JUST MARRIED EXCHANGE LETTER

My prompts are a little scrambled between tags and characters, and are simply for ideas — don't feel locked into writing any of them specifically! If I haven't elaborated on a tag/character combo you're interested in, feel free to pick and choose or go off in your own direction!

General likes:

I love long fic but I'd also appreciate any kind of 'one scene of a larger plot' or setup scene, because these are all concepts that tend to sprawl!

• Canon divergences – characters making different decisions at critical points, small changes butterflying to bigger ones, people reacting to slightly changed circumstances, characters meeting earlier or differently.
• Time Travel – all kinds! Time Loops, Groundhog day, Peggy Sue, physical time travel, accidental or purposeful.
• Fix its – any kind of story that leads to characters being better off or happier (or more alive) than unfortunate canon events left them. Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Somebody Lives/Not Everyone Dies AU’s.
• Arranged marriage / marriage of convenience tropes, matchmaking services, political alliances.
• Mission fic/Casefic is great but so are Slice of Life fics and Outside POVs (the more bewildered and misunderstanding the better). Hurt/comfort is great, Canadian Shack/hypothermia/huddling’n’cuddling for warmth fic is great, secret identity tropes are great, found family and team-as-family tropes are excellent. Characters having positive and supportive (and snarky) friendships is amazing.
• Magical power mishaps – transformed into animals! De-aged! Can't move more than ten meters apart!

DNW: Tragic Endings, Bad Guys Win, On screen non-con (including rape roleplay and rape kink),

Fandom Specific DNW: Ships including Luo Binghe (PIDW references are fine, as is LBH's crush/fixation on SQQ, I'd just prefer them not to get together.)

I love canon divergences, so feel free to make changes not directly associated with the tags — e.g. Maybe SQQ and SQH work out that they're both transmigrators earlier than canon, and thus have a much less fraught time period to think about how to change the plot. Maybe LQG shows up at the Conference Fight and SQQ literally can't complete the plot of throwing LBH into the Abyss. Maybe SQQ transmigrates years earlier while they're all disciples/LBH isn't in the sect yet.

• Accidental Marriage - Magical Curse — This honestly seems like something that PIDW had in spades. Either pair stumbling across a wife-plot like this and having to deal with the resulting fallout sounds hilarious.
• Magic - Magical Abilities are Shared after Marriage / Science Fiction - Marriage Grants Superpowers — Maybe only a specific type of magic ritual, maybe all of them. No wonder PIDW had 600 wives! But being made stronger seems like something that would appeal to LQG/SQQ and SQQ/SQH, even if they weren't necessarily together before the idea occurred to them.
• Magic - Marrying the Dead as Part of a Resurrection Spell — SQQ is canonically pretty dead for a while! People trying to reverse that by introducing marriage into the equation sounds interesting! Did SQQ know about it before hand and leave instructions/hints? Is he completely blindsided that his Flower Body plan was derailed so heavily?
• Time Travel - Fixing the Past also Results in Unexpectedly Getting Married — I'd be really interested in seeing LQG timetravel, just because he's canon blind! But either SQQ and SQH having to redo what they've already done sounds pretty funny (for us).
• Marriage of Convenience - Marriage For Protection — SQQ already knows he's in a stallion novel in which the protagonist collects all the women! Avoiding wife plots by tying himself to someone else seems like a logical step! Either LQG for that sweet sweet War God protection, or SQH as a fellow transmigrator who would also like to avoid that danger. Shockingly, it probably does heavily derail the plot, if not in the way either of them would think!

• Political Marriage — So much of the drama and tragedy of this show is in the Sect politics. I think that Sect Leader Jiang (or Sect Heir Jiang, if it's even earlier) getting married is going to involve politics no matter what or who he marries.
• Arranged Marriage - Arranged as a Means of Keeping Reluctant Ally Under Control — Mianmian and Qin Su are both associated with Jin Sect, so there could definitely be an angle of JGS trying to keep Lotus Pier under his thumb! Or Qin Su is an unfortunate casualty in the JGS-JGY struggle, which results in JGS unintentionally helping for once. Maybe Lotus Pier and Qinghe are trying to forge a stronger alliance, despite both being very heavily damaged by the war.
• Arranged Marriage - Slowly Falling in Love with Spouse — Jiang Cheng definitely has a lot of feelings about married couples not loving each other! I think he's pretty desperate not to recreate his parents dynamics, and I want him to have nice things.
• Science Fiction - Marriage Grants Superpowers — Hasty war time marriages to try and increase everyone's strength? Does it work better if you're both strong, or should one partner be able to stay somewhere safe out of the fighting? What kind of conditions are necessary? What kind of things does everyone look for in a partner?
• Time Travel - Fixing the Past also Results in Unexpectedly Getting Married — I love time travel and fix it fics and The Untamed really needs them. I'd really love to see a Qin Su time travel; she has such a disaster of an ending despite the fact that she really tried to live her best life. Or Nie Mingjue, who had an incredible presence in the war, knew the Jin's were up to something shady and may or may not have memories from his final stand as a corpse in the temple. He has the power and position to make a lot of changes, so that could be really interesting.

Feel free to go gardens-verse or other AU's if you want. Time travel is always, always welcome, as are other canon divergences. I'll also happily take post-ending fic when the whole Fourth War is over and done with.

Hyuuga Neji & Nara Shikako (DoS)

• Marriage of Convenience - Marriage For Protection
• Marriage of Convenience - Married Spouse for the Power and Resources — Okay both these tags are really the same thing but Neji has a seal he would really like removed, Shikako is a seal master who disapproves of his seal. Does Neji marry into the Nara and therefore the Hyuuga can't say not to remove his seal? Does Shikako marry into the Hyuuga? If she does, do non-byakugan spouses get the seal applied and do they dare put a seal on a seal master? Either way, the fox is in the hen house in that scenario. Is it gardens-verse and the Hyuuga have no idea what they've just done to themselves?

• Fake Marriage - Get Married During The Mission To Not Break Their Cover But Then They Catch Feelings
• Fake Marriage - Undercover As Married Leads To Unexpected Feelings— The most classic. They're both Intel type ninja who have probably done a lot of undercover missions together! Was the marriage cover/wedding intentional or did they just run with it?
• Time Travel - Fixing the Past also Results in Unexpectedly Getting Married — Either fixing that whole… hot springs thing, or just some other run-of-the-mill time travel situation… EIOT based stuff would be more than welcome.

Momochi Zabuza/Terumi Mei (DoS)

• Political Marriage — Mei becoming Mizukage clearly isn't without politics! Given that Zabuza also tried to become Mizukage at one point, then joined up with her rebellion, I'd love to see the development of their relationship. Are they still wary of betrayal? Do they really trust each other? What does the rest of Hidden Mist think of it?
• Time Travel - Time Loop of Endlessly Repeating Wedding Day — Their wedding day was pretty full on! Was what we saw in DoS the final loop, or just the first? Could they do better with warning and turn the whole thing into an even more impressive advertisement of Hidden Mist? What do they think when Tsunade's two bodyguards prove the lynchpin to defeating Isobu?

Mulan (1998)

I love canon divergences, so feel free to make changes not directly associated with the tags. I also adore the theory that Mulan is the Great Stone Dragon protecting the Fa Family – and wouldn’t mind if that were a lot more literal and there were more overt magic/spirits happening.

• Arranged Marriage - Algorithmic-selected Partner but They Lied On The Questionnaire / Arranged Marriage - Drawn by Lots— It's like the matchmaker but even more arbitrary! Does that make it more of a disaster, or less?
• Historical - Marriage for the Sake of Honor — This is pretty much just Mulan's canon plot point, I think but it's still super interesting to me! Maybe when Mulan's gender is revealed, marriage is decided to be the resolution?
• Science Fiction - Marriage Grants Superpowers — there would probably be even more pressure for people to marry if you could get sweet super powers out of it!
